Botswana

Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Salt Pans are so vast they can be seen from space, an endless, white desert that feels like another planet. When you sleep under the stars in this ancient, surreal landscape, it’s like time slows down.
In the wet season (November to April), the pans flood, supporting a wide range of fauna. But in the dry season, between October and May, they’re among the best places in the world to sleep under the stars.
Whether you’re on a specific itinerary or a guest at a local lodge, it’s a profound experience to quad-bike onto the pans to a quiet, completely unspoilt, dark place and curl up in a comfortable bed, beneath the spectacular Milky Way and the southern sky.
For an extra treat, you’ll be able to visit and interact with a mob of habituated meerkats. These delightful little mongooses are sure to steal your heart in a flash!
